“I love helping people discover the healing power of delicious healthy food. For me, health is about balance, and sometimes that includes cake!”
I’ve always loved food but I’ve not always eaten the right things. I turned to nutrition to tackle a life-long weight problem, losing over seven stone (100 lbs) in five years and in the process, discovering the power of a healthy diet. This fascination with nutrition and lifestyle medicine grew even deeper when, aged 40, I was diagnosed with oestrogen positive breast cancer. I did, of course, undergo the recommended treatment with the NHS, but I also wanted to do as much as I could to help myself and to regain control of my health, during and after treatment.
I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist – this means that I am regulated by BANT (British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine) and CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) – and I trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London.
I work with clients with a range of nutritional imbalances and have a special interest in weight loss, hormone balance and healthy ageing.
ABOUT NUTRITIONAL THERAPY
“Food is much, much more than calories or fuel. Food is information for our bodies. And food should be a delicious part of our everyday enjoyment of life.”
Nutritional Therapy recognises that, as a result of both our genes and our environment, we are biochemically unique. This means that there is no universal ‘healthy diet’ that suits every individual. By combining the latest scientific evidence with individual assessment and laboratory testing where appropriate, we identify and address potential imbalances that may be contributing to your specific symptoms or health issues.
This powerful approach, known as functional medicine, recognises your biochemical individuality and provides a personalised diet and lifestyle programme to address your health concerns. It is based on the principle that the right nutrition, supplements and lifestyle factors can support your body to heal itself.
For your own protection and peace of mind, always look for a Nutritional Therapist who:
- Treats you as a unique individual
- Provides a programme of practical, achievable nutrition and lifestyle changes based on scientific evidence
- Can provide and interpret a range of laboratory tests
- Will work collaboratively with your other healthcare professionals
- Is a member of BANT and registered with the CNHC
